'Snailbeach Mines Trust', the first E.L. Heath album released on Staffordshire's Wayside & Woodland Recordings label back in 2010. An aural exploration of site of the Snailbeach Lead Mine, once the largest mine of its kind in England.

Inspired by a return to the village of his youth, Heath shaped these experiences and memories to reflect his emotions of returning to somewhere very much engrained in his own childhood. The resulting pieces display a great deal of emotional depth, ambient beauty and warmth, evocative one minute of the bucolic songs of Nick Drake and Virginia Astley, then effortlessly shifting towards the more reverb drenched layers and textures of the Stars of the Lid and Brian Eno.

This is as good as the officially released WRNTDP titles on CIS. Very pleased to pick it up, where the pieces here are longer than most on the records they benefit from the slow unwinding they are afforded. The 18 minute live set excerpt is particularly immersive. Wouldn't be the worst idea in the world to release this on vinyl as a companion to the inevitable repressing of This Nation's Most Central Location. Great stuff. Oh and you get a cool magazine to read as well. Awesome. shaun rogan
